Why I Dont Do TBR'S!

Hey!

I was just wanting to do too have a little chat about why I generally don't do TBR's. There are a few reasons why I don't do them and It is in no way saying that they don't work or are a bad idea because they are not just different things work for different people.

One of the reasons I don't have a TBR list is because, I find that often I would make one and feel I have a good selection of books that I am interested in, but I might finish a book and feel like I want to read a completely different genre, then the books I have selected or I don't feel so interested in reading the books on my list and feel like reading something else. Which often does happen if I like it or not.

Another reason is, If I don't read all the books on my TBR list then I have this feeling of guilt or that I have let myself down. Which I haven't If I have chosen something else to read just means my taste at the time has changed or I am more interested in another book at that particular time, which is obviously fine.

There is also the added pressure of getting through and reading all the books you do say you are going to read in that period of time. Which is not always doable, as life does sometimes tend to get in the way or you may not feel like reading and forcing yourself to is even worse than just admitting that your just not feeling it. Sometimes it can be a case of just feeling the book or books you thought you'd enjoy or want to read, but feel that you have to finish it as it on your list too. Which just puts you off reading altogether. Your best of switching books or just taking a break when that happens.

So those are the reasons why I don't hardly make TBR lists anymore.

Please feel free to share your reasons why you make them or why you don't in the comments

Until Next Time

Reasons Why Reading Is Important

Hi, Everyone

Okay, today I thought I would talk to you about the importance of reading.I'm not saying you have to read I'm not going to  forcing a book down your throat forcing you to read it, I am just saying that maybe there might be some good reasons to start reading or encourage your children (if you have them) to read.

1 Imagination

When it comes to creating and thinking books are an amazing way to do this, they can take you to different places, different situation. That you can paint in your mind using your imagination and can take you anywhere you could think or hope to go and having a good imagination is important in storytelling and writing it can also help you with problem-solving, imagining different ways to solve the problem or thinking outside the box.

2. Focus and Concentration
Reading can really help you with focusing and concentrating on one thing at a time also it helps build up your focus and concentration the more you do it and get used to it the more it builds and develops (simple really). It can also help your body and mind to slow down and take a well deserved chill time.

3.Reading Improves your memory

Reading helps you to flex your memory muscle and in turn, will help you to build it up which is an added bonus if you ask me, which you probably never. Which actually helps to build up your long-term memory that always comes in useful. Since we are talking about reading and books it helps you to take in all of what the book is about.

4. Reading helps with Communication
Books and reading have a way of opening up another way to communicate and talk about different things to talk about especially if you read non-fiction or even fiction can strike up a conversation and develop your communication skills.

5. Entertainment
Books can be a very cheap and affordable hobby or interest, as you do not have to spend a lot on books there are many places you can get cheap or even free book! for example, the libraries, charity shops or car boots are a good place to start for cheap books, or people could give them away or gift them to you,  but try online for free books.

6. Language Development

Reading can be a great way of learning new words adding to your vocabulary and reading to young children helps develop their language skills.

7. Makes You Smarter

Readers display a greater knowledge of how things work and greater vocabulary and language development. Plus if you read non- fiction then you will also learn new things and possibly some new skills.

So there you have it 7 reasons why reading is important at any age and it doesn't matter what you are reading as long as you are reading.

Feel free to share why you think reading is important and any tips and tricks you have.

Best Wishes
and

My Reading Goals for 2018

Hey, Fellow Book Reading People

Sorry it has been a long while since, well I have done a post I guessed I got side tracked.
I have kept up my reading though, which I guess is a good thing.... right?

I Have smashed my goal of reading 12 books this year. I  know that does not seem a lot, to well lets be honest most if not all of you, but I didn't know how this year would go, so I kept it low to not put much pressure on myself, in case I never met my expectations.

I have ended up reading 20 books which is ok I guess.

So in 2018 I'm thinking of setting my target at about 25 books, just for a basic number to aim for hopefully I will smash it.

For 2018 I thought I would give myself some reading goals. So after all that rambling here goes

  1. Read more classics I have hardly read any classics and it's about time I did.
  2. Read more books based in other countries and I do not mean just the U.S
  3. Read more new authors that I haven't read anything from or authors first novels
  4. Try to expend my read genres or type of books I read expand my horizons, if you will
  5. Find more people to talk about books with and recommend books to. I seriously lack people to talk about books to.
  6. See if I can find an author that is from my city
I believe that is enough for now other wise there will be one for every book soon lol.
Plus I do not want to pressure my self to much either in getting them all done.

Well folks that it please, please give me some recommendations on books or book groups

  Best Wishes
 and keep reading

My First Comic Books

Hi there everyone, As the title suggests after much thought and consideration these are the first comic books I have decided to read. The first one is Saga, this is one which I have wanted to try for a while but have never been able to find volume one, I have found ever other volume apart from one and you can't start reading a series without the first volume now can you. I have been reading and savouring every bit of this volume as it is so good and I want to talk my time to fully enjoy it and the art work in it is amazing and the story telling is so good. I would highly recommend picking this on up (but I expect there is many who have not as there as been so much hype on this series).

The seconded I do not know that much about as there has not been so much hype about it (or I just have not heard about)
and it is Bitch Planet this one is mostly from what I can tell a planet made up of women mostly I believe who do not fit into this on particular mould and there life on this planet, that is as much as I know about it. I found it intriguing as I thought it is a lot like society today, the way every has to fit into these kind of moulds otherwise you are out cast and deemed not good enough, which in my opinion is wrong (But let me stop before I have a whole rant on why it is wrong, it is probably a whole different post altogether).

If you know any more information or if you have read either or them please feel free to share your opinions or comments in the comment box and I will reply as soon as I can

But for now take care and best wishes

I have a book problem!!!

Help I have a book problem!

Hi there readers, I don't know if any of you have the same book related problem as I do, but I seem to buy books even though I have literally a bookshelf of books that have not been read. I am not joking either it's shocking I know how did I let it get to this state? Let me explain by bullet pointing the main reasons I think it has gotten into this state!
  • I do not put enough time into read or life gets to busy
  • I find really cheap books and can not resist
  • I read to many book reviews then have to have that book/books
  • I want way to many booktube videos on youtube then have to have the books I think I would like.
  • I can not resist buying books especially if I have found them hard to find or part of a series I have not even started yet

So those are the just some of the reasons I think my bookshelf have become a place for my unread books collection. I will just say I have managed to read some of these books on my bookshelf have been read and enjoyed and loved for the most part.

Let me know if you have any similar book problems or if you have any help or advice for my problem and don't just say stop buying books as that is obvious and I have tried to... honest

The Queen of the Tearling review

Hi Everyone I am finally back with a book review. Sorry it took so long to get up, but it is a very busy part of the year and life just kept on getting in the way.

So here it is The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen
I expect nearly everyone who is an avid book reader has read this book or at least heard of it, not unusual for me I am late on the ban wagon

If you did not know this book is about Kelsea Glynn who is just 19 years old when she is unruly, has high principles and believes that she know better then her elders.

In the beginning Kelsea is unlike any other 19 year old she is about to inherit a kingdom that is on it's knees which is corrupt, debauched and very dangerous.

So Kelsea either becomes the most fearsome ruler the kingdom has ever known or she will be dead within a week.

I absolutely loved this book could not put it down, I found myself always wanting to come back to the book never mind what I was doing.

I completely loved Kelsea and her character development was good the plot kept moving at a good pace and I hope it works out for Kelsea in the end (guess I will have to read book 2 to find out).

All in all this book had a good it kept the adventure going at a steady pace and had good plot development and character development. I completely enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys this kind of book. I can not wait to read the next book The Invasion of the Tearling hopefully soon.

I give this book 5/5 stars

well that s all from me today I might post again this week depending on the time I have as it is a fairly busy week for me

Happy Reading

I am sorry about the lack of pictures on this post I just wanted to write something quickly to let you know where I have been and to say sorry also to update you on what's going on

On the off chance

At this very moment in time I am reading Howards End is on the Landing by Susan Hill A year of reading at home.

What drew me to this book was the fact that is written by one of my favourite authors being of course Susan Hill I have read a few of her books before a have enjoyed then very much indeed and would recommending give her books a try.

This book though is kind of like a autobiography about a year in here live where she reads only books that are in her house and takes you on a journey of all the book related things she has got up to in her life. She also tells you a bit about each book and what meaning it has for her and the connection to the authors she has.

I have very much enjoyed reading this book so far, I am hoping to finish it soon. Some how Susan Hill has made me want to read more classic books find authors and books that have either been forgotten about or on the verge of being forgotten. It has shown me a love of books and things I never knew I had or made them stronger. It is also interesting to find out what she reads and  how she organises her books and what meaning and stories are behind them

I have not seen many, if any books written like this an auto biography about a writers book collection and the books she has never read or started but never finished. I am so glad I found this by chance and bought it. It makes me smile just thinking about it, which can't be a bad thing now can it

Best Wishes and until next time keep reading

Sunshine, book and wine what more could you want?

Well hello again hope you are all ok 😊

Well today is a nice sunny day and I thought that it would be a nice day to do a spot of reading outside and relax for a bit, whilst I get the chance. I do like being outside when it is warm/hot and get some fresh air into my lungs at the same time doing one of my favouite things to do reading, to be honest I could do the other thing I love to do which is taking photos. It is so much nicer to do this things outside.

So I decided to spend my afternoon in the sun reading The Lemon Grove by Helen Walsh with a glass of wine and chill and forget about the rest of the world, even if it is for a short while

Hope you are all having a good day and let me know how you like to spend a nice warm or hot day

Talk to you later

Danielle Steel 44 Charles Street Review

Well hello again everyone

So this book is about a women in here 30's called Francesca Thayer who's relationship breaks down is left with a beautiful, old house which is full of leaks and in need of total restoration. These lodgers are all very different one is a young attractive school teacher another is a newly divorced father and graphic designer and the last is a famous cookery author who is hoping to rebuild her life after the death of her husband.

Throughout this book these people build up an unlikely friendship and become the most important people in Francesca's life. Over the year that they are together the house fills with laughter, heartbreak and hope and Francesca discovers that she just might be able to open her heart again after all...

Review:
This books was enjoyable especially from about half way through to the end I guess that is because the plot and characters had developed and I certainly would not say it was a bad or disappointing book. As my first Danielle Steel book I didn't have anything to judge it by but I will be giving her books another go. The characters I most enjoyed and got behind where Francesca and Chris as o felt they where the main two characters in the book and I loved the ending for both of them I did finish this book with a big smile on my face 😃

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars

Please feel free to leave a comment or suggestion or even a book suggestion I would be most appreciative

Thanks for reading and have a good day 😃

Girl on the platform by Josephine Cox *Review*

Hi dear Readers i know it has been a while since i last updated here, but i am going to try really hard in 2015 to blog more and keep connected with you all :) well .... that is the aim.

So the last book i read and finished in 2014, was as the title suggests Girl on the Platform by Josephine Cox. It was a short book to read and the first i have read by this author which i have heard lots of things about mostly being good possitive things hence why i gave this book ago.

This book is about two best first called Mark and Pete abd there journey by train to London for a lads night out. As they board the train Pete notices a girl sat on the platform and thinks she looks lonely. So as the train leaves he finds he can't get her out of his mind because he has seen a glimpse of his self in her .

When they retuen from London over the coming months Peter sees the girl often, but when he attempts to talk to her his courage fails him. Then one day, the girl just sinple disappers. Peter is hopelessly besotted by the girl which he believes is his kindered spirt, Peter does will not stop till he finds the girl on the platform .

Review:

Over all this book was a nice quick read enough to keep me interested and a good introduction to Josephine Cox's books. It had adventure, romance and was told by the boys point of view which was intersting, over all i found myself enjoying the book and wanting to find out what happens especially towards the end. It was not anything perticuarlly special but it was a good quick read.

I gave this book a rateing of 3out of 5 stars

Feel free to leave any comments or suggestions you like it would nice to hear from you :)

Happy New Year and happy reading

Shot through the heart by Matt Cain book review!

First of I'd like to say that I absolutely loved this book and found it very hard to put it down and fell in love with all the main characters.

I thought the book gave a very good in sight into show business and the way it works and makes you see there is more to the business then meets the eye or that you think there is and really made me feel for both Mia and Leo.

The relationship between Leo and Mia which I personally loved showed how to people that come from two opposite life styles such as Leo being an paparazzo and Mia being a movie star, there are times in the book that you think it isn't going to work them being together and what it does take to make it work

This book is for any one who likes a bit of glitzy romances or just romance in a book

I'm rating this book a 5/5 stars

Book review: trains and lovers by Alexander Smith McCall

I picked this book up on a whim but three things a drawn me to this book
1. the size and cover attracted me to it
2. I had never read anything by this author before
3. I was going to get it out at the library so if I didn't like it I could simply take it back.
Saying that tho I really enjoyed this book it took place on a train on a long journey from Edinburgh to London one the journey the group share each other's love stories taking you to many different walks of life and places.
I got hooked on this book and at times couldn't put it down and I'm looking forward to reading more by this author as I hear really good things about him
I highly recommend reading this book to anyone how likes a good story or a love story

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Hegarty and the doleful dancer by Leon Murphy review

Hi Guys
I picked up the book from the library, as I read the blurb on the back of the book and it sounded interesting plus it was not that long a book, so I knew it would be a quick afternoon read.

I enjoyed this book a lot it gripped me all the way through until the end where I was left diss disappointed, as it was just not as good as the rest of the book. I felt like I wanted more from it, but apart from that it was a good book and would of given it 4 out of 5 starts except for the ending spoiled it for me so I had to deducted a star for that. It was a contemporary crime book with a good story witch has gangsters in it lots of mystery it

My finale rating was:
3 out of 5 stars

Best wishes and have a wonderful reading day

Who likes a Libuary

Hey Guys!!!!
To answer the title I would have to say I I love libraries and going to the I look forward to going when ever I can. A lot of people seem to not use them as it is seen as geeky or nerdy (for the record I think geeks and nerds are cool just like the majority of people are) which is a shame really so much can be gotten from a Libuary.

Well like I said I enjoy going to the Libuary even if it is to look at the books and not to actually get any out but 9 times out of 10 I do at least get on book out if not, which seems crazy since I have many books at home that I have not read yet. So I have only been getting out thin book as in under 200 pages or as close to this as I can. To give me some time to read my unread books at home

I would very much like to know your thoughts on libuaries and how you think they might be improved or why you don't use them please feel free to leave a comment

Best wishes and happy reading
Stacey :)

Blockade Billy by Stephen King review

Well when I first thought about reading this book I didn't think I would like it half as much as I have done. Which of  course is a good thing!. I liked the way it was written and how the story unfolded I did not expect the ending at all but a lot of things made sense once you found out the ending. It was a highly enjoyable book and didn't take to long to read it would be an afternoon read easily. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes or has an interest in baseball, as it is based on a player who gets wiped of the records, like he never excited plus the teams season or part of it gets wiped as well

I rated this book 4 out of 5 stars

Best wishes and happy reading

The book I am reading at the moment ....

Hey guys, so the book I am currently reading is Blockage Billy by Stephen King, that I am enjoying so far even tho I don't know much about baseball and seeing as that is what it is based on, I am not finding it stops me from enjoying the book or understanding it. I chose this book as I had not read anything by Stephen King before but I really wanted to and seeing as this was not that long a book and didn't have that tiny writing that some smaller books have, it seemed a good choice for dipping my toe into his works so to say. I am hoping to finish this book very shortly unless life gets in the way or I'm to tired to do so in the next few days. I will try to write a review or something more about the book if that is of any interst or I just might just do it anyway.

But for now best wishes and happy reading
Stacey
